Who We Are
Locus Alliance is a not-for-profit professional body representing individual geospatial professionals across Australia.
We are the home for geospatial professionals across a broad and inclusive spectrum, including GIS professionals, spatial scientists, surveyors, hydrographers, remote sensing specialists, mapping and data professionals, and those working in related fields who create, analyse, manage or apply geospatial information, tools and technologies. We welcome professionals in planning, engineering, infrastructure, environment, land administration, technology and data sectors who utilise geospatial capability as a core part of their work and wish to engage with a professional community focused on learning, connection, standards and collective advocacy.
Locus Alliance was established by experienced surveyors, spatial scientists, GIS leaders, photogrammetrists, hydrographers and mapping professionals who recognised the need for a unified national voice — one that represents professionals, not businesses; one that strengthens collaboration, not competition; and one that connects state and discipline expertise into a cohesive national framework by providing a platform for education and knowledge-sharing.
We are not replacing existing organisations. We are building alignment across them — creating a coordinated, credible structure that supports practitioners and elevates standards nationwide. We empower state- and discipline-specific committees to lead locally to deliver practical and technical member benefits, while contributing to a stronger, national framework.
