WANT TO PRESENT A WEBINAR?

We’re building a program that reflects the breadth of the profession — and we’re keen to hear from you. If you have a topic, case study or idea you’d like to share with the community, we encourage you to put it forward. Fill out the expression of interest form below.

This is just the beginning. We’re building a program that reflects the breadth of our profession — practical, relevant and driven by the people within it.

Locus Alliance is inviting expressions of interest from those who are passionate about making a difference and contributing to the future of the profession by joining one of our Regional Committees.

As a member-led organisation, Locus Alliance is built on the knowledge, expertise and commitment of professionals from across Australia. Our Regional Committees are fundamental to this model, ensuring local perspectives, priorities and opportunities help shape national initiatives while strengthening engagement within each State and Territory.

Whether you're an experienced professional, an emerging leader or simply looking for an opportunity to give back to the profession, we encourage you to apply.

Why Regional Committees Matter State Committees provide the vital link between Locus Alliance and the professionals, organisations and communities we represent.

Working collaboratively with the National Board and other committees, Regional Committees will:

  • Champion the interests of surveying and spatial professionals within their State or Territory
  • Identify emerging issues, opportunities and priorities affecting the profession
  • Deliver local professional development, networking and industry engagement activities
  • Build strong relationships with government, industry, academia and other stakeholders
  • Promote careers in surveying and spatial sciences and support workforce development
  • Contribute to national advocacy, policy development and strategic initiatives
  • Foster a connected, collaborative and vibrant professional community.

By bringing together professionals from diverse disciplines, sectors and career stages, our Regional Committees will help ensure Locus Alliance remains responsive, representative and relevant across Australia.

Applications are encouraged from professionals at all career stages, from early-career practitioners through to experienced leaders. No previous committee experience is necessary—we're looking for enthusiastic members who are committed to supporting the profession and contributing their skills and ideas.

Committee Commitment Regional Committees meet quarterly online, with members contributing between meetings as required to support projects, events and initiatives within their State/Territory.

Committee appointments will be made to achieve a balanced representation across disciplines, sectors, geographic regions and career stages.

Expressions of Interest Expressions of Interest are now open and close at 5.00 pm (AEST) on Monday, 17 August 2026.

If you're ready to help shape the future of Australia's surveying and spatial profession, we'd love to hear from you.

We did it!

Sydney has been selected to host the ISPRS - International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Congress in September 2029, following a decision by ISPRS General Assembly 2026 during the XXV ISPRS Congress in Toronto!

This historic achievement marks the first time that the prestigious ISPRS Congress will be held in Sydney, highlighting the city's growing role as a global hub for geospatial science and innovation.

Congratulations to Petra Helmholz as Congress Director, Sisi Zlatanova as Deputy-Congress Director, and Rachel Greenwood as Co-Chair, and to Korea and Jisang Park, as the 2030 Congress host and Congress Director.

During the closing ceremony, the outgoing Congress Director of the ISPRS Toronto Congress Derek Lichti, handed over the ISPRS flag. The bid was supported by Rachel Greenwood, CEO of Locus Alliance, and BESydney.

Locus Alliance is launching the Early Careers Network Mentoring Program in 2026. This program is designed to support the professional development of early career professionals in the geospatial profession by strengthening soft skills and supporting participants to shape their career direction and professional identity.

Designed to be intentionally non-technical, the program focuses on professional skills that are transferable across all roles and sectors. This means the program is relevant for participants regardless of discipline or background. That's why we're delivering the program in conjunction with the young and early careers groups from Earth Observation Australia, Australasian Hydrographic Society, Institution of Surveyors NSW, and Institution of Surveyors VIC. We aim to provide participants with new insights from a range of disciplines on industry trends, challenges, and ways of working.

The program runs from 16 June – 24 November 2026, and involves:

  • A virtual kick-off event to introduce participants to the program and set expectations

  • Five 1-hour mentor-mentee sessions, virtual or in-person, scheduled by each pairing

  • A virtual industry roundtable event hosted mid-program

  • An in-person graduation event hosted at the end of the program.

Participants

  • If you would like to be a Mentor, participation is FREE

  • If you would like to be a Mentee, participation is FREE if you are a FY26/27 member of one of the collaborating organisations, or AUD50 for non-members.

Students are encouraged to join, and should be a member of Locus Alliance (which is FREE) or a collaborating organisation. Membership will be verified and invoices will be issued prior to matching.

Expressions of Interest have been extended to 7th May 2026.
